"Just friends" is all Brooke and Dylan have ever been. (Except for that one night in high school, but they don’t talk about that.) Growing up, he was her protector. Her confidant. The one guy she could always trust. Now she’s a marine biologist working toward her PhD in California, and he’s an underwear model in New York. Despite the distance and their wildly divergent career paths, they’ve managed to stay friends.
Dylan’s only in town for a few days, crashing on Brooke’s couch and repaying the favor by acting as her date to a friend’s wedding.
It was totally an accident she saw him naked.
Pretty soon, the “just friends” thing goes out the window, and they find themselves giving friends with benefits a shot.
It’s all going great…until it isn’t.
Dylan’s got a ticket back to New York at the end of the week, and Brooke may have accidentally broken his heart. Can they navigate these uncharted relationship waters? Or has she wrecked her oldest friendship?

Really funny
I like the book, it's really funny! But Brooke and Ester (main character from book 2) are the EXACT SAME personality. The author even has Brooke LIVING in Ester's old apartment and even the cat's personality is the same as Ester's cat. Instead of writing 2 books in the same series with the main character having the SAME EXACT personality, I'd have liked to see characters that are different.

Experimental Marine Biology by Susannah Nix
Wow I loved this book, it is the first one I’ve read by this author . Brooke and Dylan had been best friends for about 18 years, Brooke was a Marine Biologist in LA and Dylan was a underwear model in New York. Dylan needed a break and asked Brooke if he could visit and sleep on her couch. Things became sexual and Dylan wanted more but Brooke broke his heart and said they could only ever be friends. But she was wrong, read this book at times it will break your heart but then will be put back together again.

Whale puns, sexy hero, intelligent heroine...the best of the best
All I can think of to say is WOW!!! I’m not even sure I can articulate how much I loved this book. Susannah Nix does it again. She brings in another intelligent heroine in the STEM field and pairs her with a swoon worthy hero (who happens to be a model). I fell in love with Dylan the moment we meet him and it’s not often I do. He knows what/who he wants and goes for it but not in the alpha way, which is a nice change of pace. I will admit that the moments Brooke has with her dad had me in tears, but it only made me want to keep reading even more. This very well could be my favorite Chemistry Lessons book so far, but really...is it fair to compare them when they’re all so amazing? If you’re unsure about reading this but love puns, this is enough of a reason to read the book. I promise you won’t be disappointed either way! **ARC kindly provided by the author for an HONEST review (and this is completely honest to goodness how I feel about the book)!**

Best Friends to Lovers - Should we risk it all?
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book as I have all the series! Now it is Brooke’s story we get to enjoy. She has a lot of family issues that have made her very weary of relationships and giving and opening herself entirely to someone. Dylan on the other hand doesn’t think he is smart or good at anything and as he ages, he transforms from a “nerdy” average looking kid to a Super-Hot Underwear Model. BUT since he is a very deep, emotional guy this business is getting to him. He is not fake and living in a world where everyone is trying to take advantage of you and what you have to offer to make them succeed, he needs to reprieve and go outside of his world. Who better to spend this cleansing time than his Best Friend Forever since childhood? However, it seems that both have been attracted to each other but have never gotten their signals to the same level until they are back and reunited for a short week. Even if this is a short week vacation there is a lot of things happening in both their worlds that are intense and life changing on both characters. BUT the most important is the decision to make if they decide to be friends with benefits risking their long-time friendship or not. This is a journey you will not be disappointed you took. Susannah Nix has done it again and oh so well!!! Can’t wait for the next installment in the series to come!

Can they move from friends to lovers?
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Experimental Marine Biology, the 5th Book in the Chemistry Lessons series, centers around Ph.D. marine biology student Brooke and her childhood best friend Dylan, a successful underwear model. The book is prefaced with the disclaimer that it is “largely lighthearted, but touches on certain subjects, including, abortion, parental illness, and disordered eating that may be difficult or unpleasant for some.” Dylan is in town on a business trip and decides to take a much needed vacation to visit Brooke. Like with real friendships, after many years apart, they pick up immediately where they left off. During his visit, their mutual attraction towards each other quickly escalates to something of a sexual nature. Dylan wants to take their friendship to the next level and hopes to establish a future with Brooke. However, she fears ruining their friendship to take that risk with him. As a woman who works in a STEM field, I really enjoy reading Susannah Nix’s books of women in STEM, but this one fell a little short for me. Just a little. I wish there was a little more depth about the struggles women STEM experience, especially what Brooke faced after she applied for the graduate student award. How did she deal with it? Instead it was mentioned, but nothing more. Also, I would’ve liked to have seen Dylan’s background fleshed out more. How did he deal with life as an underwear model? It’s mentioned that he was burnt out from it, he had his insecurities, and he hated being on display like a piece of meat. But how did he ultimately deal with it in the end other than moving on to new opportunities? There was a confrontation waiting to happen that never did. Other than that, this story is sweet, emotional, and relatable. If you’re looking for something with characters that overcome real issues, then this is the book for you.

Worth the read and looking forward to more!
I was super excited when Nix announced a new book in the Chemistry Lessons series and I was not disappointed! It was fun to see the gang from the series get together in Brooke’s story. She’s smart, funny, and so over the dating world. It doesn’t help that her best friend since childhood is utterly perfect and simply irresistible. The two have always been there for each other no matter how long or how far apart they are and Dylan is every girl’s dream. Honest and loyal, charming and oh so very sweet. Their story is complicated but emotional. Susannah Mix has some of the best characters and this book is worth the read. I’m looking forward to more in this series.

Marine biologist and model
Brooke is a a marine biologist working on her PhD (that includes whale ear wax). She’s got some insecurities. Dylan was her next door neighbor and prom date. They kissed one time at prom but they were always just friends . Now he’s a model in NY, crashing on her couch in LA for a week. Things heat up, but she’s bad at relationships. Recommend. Why? Love marine biology, nerds and hottie models. And friends to more.
